Reigning in life isn't a term that we often hear in the life of believers. It isn't part of our common language, however it should be. For those of us who are in Christ, we indeed now reign in life. Romans 5:17 says, "For if, by the trespass of the one man, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive God’s abundant provision of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ!" We have been given a new status, and it's up to us to walk in what we have inherited. What exactly does it mean to reign? The dictionary defines reign as, " to exercise rule and authority". As believers we should not be under the persuasion that we are just "sinners saved by grace". There is no authority or rule in that mindset or confession. It's actually quite opposite of the truth, which is that we are now saints. Our most authentic posture of humility is when we come into agreement with all that the word of God says that we are Jesus Christ. It's from that posture that we reinforce the finished work of Jesus in our lives. From this position of reigning in Christ, sin no longer has the authority it once had in our lives. Guilt, shame and condemnation should no longer have us bound to sin as though it's our identity. In Christ we are justified, and repentance gives us the ability to continually reinforce that justification. Colossians 1:13 NLT says, " For he has rescued us from the kingdom of darkness and transferred us into the Kingdom of His dear Son." Because we have experienced this divine transfer we are now partakers of His divine nature. It's time for us to operate in that which we have been given, you are a saint, and you were destined to reign in life through Jesus Christ. Victory, triumph, and life more abundantly is your portion!
